Save Herdmanflat!

The Herdmanflat woodland holds a special place in the hearts of the community. Its popularity is a testament to the joy and beauty it brings to people's lives. We must protect this precious natural resource for future generations to enjoy and cherish. The woodland is not just a collection of trees, it's a part of our shared heritage.

East Lothian Council is proposing to build housing on 40 -50% of the woodland. To destroy it for the sake of a housing development is not just shortsighted, it is a betrayal of our community's love and commitment to nature and this space.

Herdmanflat provides a habitat for a diverse range of flora and fauna. It is a vital green lung in the heart of Haddington, providing a space for children to play, families to walk their dogs and people to simply connect with nature. It is a living reminder of the importance of preserving our environment for future generations.

Herdmanflat is a legacy, it has been used by the community since the 19th century. The proposed housing development by East Lothian Council threatens to destroy this green oasis forever. If we allow this woodland to be destroyed or degraded, we will not only lose a precious natural resource but also harm the well-being of the community and the environment. It is our responsibility to preserve and protect Herdmanflat woodland for future generations to enjoy and cherish. Lets ensure that this beloved woodland remains intact, thriving, and accessible for all.
